About this game
Fourteen emotions, a deck of cards, and the rules of Go Fish. Children collect sets and answer a question about whichever feeling they are holding, which is a much easier ask than naming a feeling from nothing.
Some of the emotions are the difficult ones: frustration, worry, jealousy. Others are the good ones worth noticing on purpose. Over a few rounds a child ends up having said something about most of them, and none of it felt like being asked.
CBTiger draws on cognitive behavioural techniques, the practical ideas therapists use to help children handle strong feelings rather than be handled by them.
How it plays
Two to six players, 20 to 30 minutes. If you can play Go Fish you can play this, which means children can teach each other and adults can stay out of it.
Good for
- A first step for families who have not tried anything like this before
- Travelling, waiting rooms and anywhere a board will not fit
- Therapists wanting a short, contained activity
In the box
- 47 cards covering 14 emotions
