About this game
An illustrated board game where the pictures do the asking. Children respond to what they see, vote on each other's answers, and end up explaining themselves without being interrogated.
The voting tokens matter more than they look. A child who has to decide which answer they agree with is thinking about someone else's reasoning, which is most of what understanding other people amounts to. It also means quieter players stay involved when it is not their turn.
CBTrip draws on cognitive behavioural techniques, the practical ideas therapists use to help children put feelings into words and think about them more flexibly.
How it plays
Two to six players, 20 to 40 minutes. Move, draw, respond to the illustration, and vote. With 130 cards it takes a long time before anything repeats.
Good for
- Children who think in pictures more readily than in words
- Mixed groups where reading levels vary
- Getting a table of children to listen to each other properly
In the box
- 130 illustrated cards
