Board Games for 6 Year Olds
Six is the age board games start earning their place. A six year old can follow a real game, take a turn without being reminded, and answer a question about themselves without freezing.

Why board games for 6 year olds work so well
At six, a child is competent enough that the game stops being the challenge. Once the rules are easy, attention moves to what is happening between the players, which is where the useful conversations live.
Six year olds also like being good at something. A game they can win on merit is more engaging than an activity that has been obviously softened for them.

What to look for
A question or challenge on each card. It gives a child something to say without putting them on the spot.
Games that handle more than two players. Six year olds often play with siblings or a whole class, and a game that seats eight gets used far more than one that seats two.
A round that finishes in half an hour. Long enough to matter, short enough to finish before tea.

Fifteen to thirty minutes of proper play.
Some questions will get a one-word answer and some will open up a whole conversation. Both are fine, and you cannot predict which will do which.
