About this game
A magnetic chart that goes on the fridge, a locker or a bedroom door. Twenty feelings on it, from happy and excited through to worried, frustrated and sick. The child moves the marker to whichever one fits.
It answers a question parents ask several times a day and rarely get a useful reply to. A child who says "fine" when asked how they are will happily move a magnet to "grumpy" on the way past, and now you know, and you did not have to ask again.
It works particularly well for children who find talking hard, whether that is shyness, a rough day, or a child who does not use much speech. Pointing is easier than explaining.
How it works
Stick it on any magnetic surface. Move the marker. That is the whole thing. Some families check it at breakfast and after school; others leave it and see what appears.
Good for
- Daily check-ins without an interrogation
- Children who point more readily than they talk
- Classrooms, calm corners and shared family spaces
